The TV is off and doors are closed. Christmas music is playing softly.
Children are enjoying a stack of their library books.
Can't wait to read these! The Chicks Christmas is by Felicia Bond, author of Four Valentines in a Rainstorm, which I adore. The Story of Holly and Ivy is by Rumer Godden, and the other little book is Christmas Is a Time of Giving (c. 1961) by Joan Walsh Anglund. Sweet illustrations!
In other news--I am going to be starting a photography project in January that I have wanted to do for a long time. I will need to have a good camera though (no offense to my current camera, you have served me well. your pictures are not clear though. I'm so sorry). So, for photography people, what do you have? I am looking at Nikons and Canons. Nothing terribly fancy. I don't even know what that kind of camera is called, the kind with lenses and stuff. Pro cameras? I pretty much say 'you know, the not-point-and-shoot-kind.'
They're called DSLRs (Digital Single Lens Reflex, if you're interested)- they're the ones with the big lenses that you can remove. I LOVE my Nikon D50, but that was 2 models ago for Nikon, and you can't get it anymore...
ReplyDeleteAh! Yes, SLR's, I've heard that term before. Thanks! I've also heard good things about d50's, too bad you can't get them anymore. I'll have to look into what's available...
ReplyDeleteI love my Nikon d50 as well. I think the D40 is the similar, current model. Even with the new nice camera, I really saw my photos get a lot better after I learned some basics from the book "Understanding Exposure". I got it at my library. Good luck & can't wait to see the photos :)
ReplyDeleteooh, great tip Amanda, I put that book on hold at the library. TY!
ReplyDeleteDennis has a cannon. Not sure what model, but that's the best way to get a good deal, buy the just past model. Try ebay even because people who are more into upgrade to the new models but their cameras are perfectly fine. I don't know what our flash is called, but we have a big one that goes on top so the flash bounces up instead directly at what you're shooting. It makes the pictures REALLY nice:) Now Dennis wants a new lens:)
ReplyDeleteoh, it's the same SLR type thing
ReplyDeleteoh, and I also love the tv cabinet. I want a tv cabinet so bad so that I can shut the tv up and not let it be the first thing I see all the time:)
ReplyDeleteDennis, I really like the TV cabinet as well. It's especially cool because we picked out the plans for it & what kind of wood (cherry) then an Amish man (Delmer) made it for us. It's really heavy & sturdy.
ReplyDeleteI use a Canon DigitalSLR. I like it. I know a lot of people prefer Nikon. I got a package deal at HHGregg that also included a free telephoto lens a few years back. It is great! Here is a link: http://www.hhgregg.com/ProductDetail.asp?SID=n&ProductID=21731&BrandStore=All
